I had the best weekend! Mike made a cake from scratch, a gluten-free one, that had gorgeous texture and tasted wonderful. Boo couldn’t have been any sweeter to me either. When she woke on Saturday morning the very first thing she said was, “Happy Birthday, Ganma! I SO happy!”. I bet she gave me 10+ hugs without me having to ask for them throughout the day, too.
I was in a serious ‘Sherlock’ mood so Saturday evening Mike and I watched Elementary and then two episodes of the BBC’s Sherlock. People have told me I’ll like the BBC one better and I must admit, I love the show! If I had to choose only one, however, I’d go with Elementary for a couple of reasons. One, you get more episodes per season! I think Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock is amazing but Jonny Lee Miller brings a vulnerability to his Sherlock that’s missing in the BBC one. Both Sherlocks are imperfect, both Sherlocks don’t seem to grasp the concept of being imperfect but Miller’s seems a bit more aware that something isn’t quite right.
Still, I felt full of win getting to watch both Sherlocks in one night!
Sunday Mike was going to figure out a way to keep Boo from crashing my computer. She not only powers it off via the tower but has discovered the button on my UPS that cuts power to my entire desk. A few nights ago I thought I was going to have to format my hard drive to fix it after she pulled her new ‘trick’ three times. Took a good thirty minutes to get my computer to realize there was no corruption and it could go ahead and BOOT UP.
He did it, too. He’s rearranged the office! We moved my desk to the far wall and arranged our tall bookcases in a way that affords me a bit of privacy. Doing so took up half of the open double door way but I’m completely okay with this! My kids don’t mean anything by it but with the old office arrangement they’d sit on the couch in the living room, watching TV or playing a game, and often ask me what that was on my screen. I have nothing to hide, mind you, I just don’t want to have to stop and talk about every little thing I’m doing on my computer because EVERYONE can see my screen!
Ugh.
Now they can’t without walking into the office! WOOT!
Mike and Boo gave me a new desk chair for my birthday that actually has cushion in the seat! I didn’t realize just how old and worn out my chair was until I sat in this one. My bum feels pampered now. And it looks so much better sitting over here on this wall than it did on the other. For realsies!
I feel pretty good about the coming week, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. That’s how amazing my weekend was. Let’s hope this propels me into cleaning the other half of the office today. Mike’s desk is buried under a ton of junk right now …..
