Last night the episode of Survivor titled Getting to Crunch Time aired. If you haven’t watched it then beware. I’m going to spoil it for you should you read this before seeing it yourself. I wish I could say it was a “must see” episode but, in my not so humble opinion, it’s only must see if you want to watch epic douchebaggery unfold on your screen.
In short, the episode made me mad!
I have to go back a few episodes, however, to fully explain my disdain with what I thought was going to be a most epic season. I have to go back to Julie the Quitter. Another season of Survivor and we, once again, were gifted with a quitter. Tell me, Survivor people who chose the contestants, was the lure of having John Rocker, a well known bigot with an ugly and hateful attitude, sooooo tempting (for reasons of DRAMA) that you went for it without really checking out his loved one? Was there anything in Julie that screamed ‘even if my man is voted off the island I’ll stay and fight for the million’? Did you see something in her we didn’t, other than the big bouncing boobies?
In all fairness I liked Julie for a bit. I felt horrible for her when both tribes turned on Rocker for his past. None of these people appeared to stop and see if he’d changed, they just threw stones. Big ugly hurtful and angry stones. My heart broke for Julie, having to ignore her man being trashed badly by her team mates enough so she could still get along with them. If it were me and Mike, I’d have wanted to throw the rice in the fire. What a horrible situation to be in!
But then she quit and as much as she’s right, no one could possibly know how being on the island was for HER, specifically, she quit. QUIT! I have no tolerance for quitters on this show. It amazes me that, this many seasons into the show (I believe this is season 29!!!) we still get quitters. What the what, people!
That said, Julie quitting helped everyone else dodge Tribal which meant no one was voted off. Josh had a HUGE target on his back and I feared he would be voted off. We can’t have that! My picks for final two were Josh and Jeremy, the only two people worthy of facing the jury. They’ve played this game and played it HARD! So of course Josh was voted out next Tribal. Why. you ask? I’ll tell you why. Weasels! Whiny weasels that flip with the wind and no nothing of integrity.
Now, I should admit that I’ve long said you can’t play this game with a lot of integrity. Still, there’s a difference in being the power player who’s making game changing decisions while everyone eats from their hand and wimpy little clinger-ons who do nothing but flip. Flip flip flip. Baylor is one such flipper and we’ve known that since the season started. Jon and Jaclyn are flippers and now we know (for realsies) that Baylor’s mom Missy is also a flipper. How cute that they’re in an alliance with each other (at least, this week they are).
People I do not want in the final two are:
- Jon (burning the idol rules was smart but, outside of that, what’s he done other than lie and flip?)
- Jaclyn (I want to like her but other than lie, flip and get her feelings hurt, what’s she done?)
- Baylor (FLIPPER!!!!)
- Missy (Let Baylor be her own person. You need to go home. Rice-hog.)
- Alec (or is Drew the one still there? I dunno. They both were pigs in every sense of the word)
- Wes (what’s he done other than lose the flint? Was he the one who broke it also?)
That leaves Keith, Natalie and Reed because JEREMY WAS VOTED OFF! OMG! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ALLIANCE OF FLIPPERS??? Allow me to back up again.
I am a major Russell Hantz fan. Dude rocked Survivor in ways we hadn’t seen before! He was EVIL! But. You knew it. He didn’t “lay it on thick” like Jon and Jaclyn. He had control of the game and he ran it hard. He wasn’t a Boston Rob for he lacked tact and, seemingly, simple human decency. On the show anyway. But it was IN YOUR FACE! The Alliance of Flippers don’t operate the Hantz way or the Boston Rob way. Was it smart to vote Jeremy out? Yeah, it was. None of them stood a chance in hell of winning the million over Jeremy. Jeremy, even without being a firefighter, a loving husband and dad, he still would have won because he was a good person. He was true to his word. He played the game and did so hard, like Josh. He still tried to look out for Julie even after Rocker failed to save his wife! He had character, was a strong competitor in the challenges and stayed true to his alliance. That, to me, is worth gold.
Even in a game like Survivor. I rooted for the good guys because we need more Tom’s to win just as much as we need Russell’s to win.
The Alliance of Flippers is going to implode in horrible fashion, I think, and we’ll probably see some butthurt antics as a result because OF COURSE they’re going to expect loyalty. Right?
So who do I want to see in the final two now? Reed. I want to see Reed in the final two since Josh and Jeremy can’t be there. The other pick? I dunno. Keith or Natalie. I don’t know that either of them are deserving and, I suppose I should give kudos to Jon for getting rid of Jeremy because that WAS smart for him. He couldn’t have beaten Jeremy. But because he got rid of Jeremy before Missy, Alec, Wes and Baylor? It just feels unforgivable in my book.
Sound off in the comments! Let me know if you think I’m the idiot or if you agree with me.
